As an identical twin, my sister Mel and I traded places, tricking our boyfriends in high school on the night of our prom. Every one always said they knew us apart, and we found out this was not the case, no one noticed. We also discovered that we liked being who we were, our own identity and that we were fearfully made, and no trading of -- ourselves -- is worth the swap. Like Esau and Jacob, who traded a birthright for stew such decisions cause problems. We learned that trading for a date to play a trick is not all it's cracked up to be ... So wear the shoes God gives you, even if they are high heels of hope, you'll find your way with victory and with peace.

Isn't odd how our mouth will boast, almost like it has a mind of its own? My mouth did this, one year when I played softball for a team, a co-ed team of men and women. The shortstop didn't act like I could play, so he'd easy-toss the ball to me at first base. When I told him to throw it harder, he accepted my challenge. James 3 - has much to say about boasting and how praise should be for God, yet our tongue is evil and mouthy at times. I think God wrote this chapter for me--surely no one else has this problem.

I tend to forget to take God with me on my journey. I get in such a hurry to win, to accomplish a task; I may forget to seek his guidance in taking the next step. Once I kicked someone in the face with my boot, not the best way to make a good first impression. However I do know God is all about helping me put my best foot forward, to make amends, to live a life which brings glory to Him.

So when I failed this task with a new friend, her forgiving heart made all the difference!

Did I blow my top? Soaked in gasoline, the pumps won't quit. At midnight in the car my schnauzer throws up in me, messy night to say the least. Then the next day the pooch spills my coffee cup and the brew lands on my new iPod. It drowns! Did I implode? Did I blow a gasket? Were the words of my mouth acceptable to the Lord? When life gets messy, is filled with spills and makes us gag, it's time to persevere!!!
